Theresa Marie Keene (née Watson) passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 21, 2021, while in the care of Menorah Park. She is survived by daughter, Michella Peck of New York, NY; son, Eric Douglas Keene of Chicago, IL; and daughter, Kyera Keenne-Pumphrey (Willis) of Clearwater, FL.
A native Clevelander, Theresa is perhaps best remembered for her tenure with the Shaker Heights City School District. For 40+ years, “Mrs. Keene” shepherded generations of young Shakerites through their introductory and continuing experiences with libraries. She began as a Library Assistant at Woodbury Junior High School, and retired from the District while at Lomond Elementary School.
Theresa was an enthusiast of the arts, particularly musical theater. She celebrated her 80th birthday amongst family and friends with a long weekend in New York, taking in multiple shows, including Moulin Rouge!. She notably attended Hamilton twice, on Broadway AND at Playhouse Square.
Theresa’s love of the arts was matched by her love of animals. These “critters,” including dogs, cats, and birds of her own (and her daughters!), brought lasting joy and enrichment to her life. Memorial Services to be scheduled for after the New Year.
