Tamekia Nicole Carter was born July 10, 1982 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles Edward Carter, deceased and Phyllis Ann Carter. Tamekia has one brother Lashun Mitchell. Later in Tamekia’s life she had two children Charles L. Carter and Monica L. Carter and her partner Orlando Meadows. Tamekia became a grandmother to Kamariyon Sirus Carter and she was very happy, this was her proudest moment.
She was educated at St. Joseph Elementary Catholic School, John Dewey Elementary School, Warrensville Heights Middle School and Warrensville Heights High School where she graduated.
She was part of a Church choir and had a lovely voice that people loved when they heard her sing. She was asked to perform at a festival because of her voice. She joined her high school choir and had a solo.
Tamekia worked at a number of jobs, such as factory work, personal cook at the baseball stadium, and fast food. Tamekia discovered she liked the restaurant industry where she worked as a server and sometimes she filled in as the cook. She became ill with her lupus and had to discontinue working.
She passed away at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. She went home to be with the Lord. Tamekia Carter leaves to mourn her mother Phyllis Smith, second father Oliver Smith, brother Lashun Mitchell, her children Charles Carter and Monica Carter, grandson Kamariyon Carter and her partner Orlando Meadows and a host of other kin, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends.
