Susan K. Cornelius was the fourth of five children born to the union of Sparkus and Leola Fantroy , on September 4th,1951.in Cleveland,Ohio. She was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church throughout her youth and participated in both the BYF and the NAACP youth council.
Susan was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools and developed her love of cheer leading and dance at John Hay High school. She continued her pursuit of dancing at Tri-C , but in 1972 realizing she would not be able to support herself in dance alone, decided to join the United States Airforce.
However, when a young Arthur Lee Cornelius, whom Susan had met and fell in love with at TRI -C, came to visit her in Charleston, S.C, " A walk on the beach in the moonlight" was all it took to cause another shift in her career path. Susan and Arthur were married in April of 1973 and she decided to take advantage of the option afforded to female married service members to opt out of military service in May of that year.
Susan worked at a variety of jobs until August 1984, when her darling daughter Melissa was born. She then devoted herself full time to her daughter's pursuit of the Arts through her education at the Cleveland School of the Arts.
When Melissa was well unto her own path, Susan started working for the Antioch Credit Union and later for Avis Rent-A-Car. Susan was soon needed to help care for her oldest sister, Linda Nichols. She also became experienced and compassionate caregiver for her aunt Constance Parton and her mother, Leola.
Susan leaves to mourn her, husband Arthur Lee Cornelius, daughter,Melissa Cornelius ( Rob),sister Dianne( Charles) Harris, brother Arthur ( Patricia) Fantroy, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will join her parents, sister Linda ( Willie) Nichols, brother Sparkus Fantroy and many aunts, uncles and cousins in heaven.
