On Monday morning, May 23, 2016, Reverend Sade Davis-Reynolds was called home to be with her Lord after 82 years. Reverend Sade Davis-Reynolds was born April 20, 1934 in Raleigh, West Virginia to the union of the late James W. Davis Sr. and Mable (Bell) Davis. She was the eighth of thirteen children.
Following her dreams to ministry, Sade graduated in 1984 from Methodist Theological School in Delaware, Ohio and earned her Master of Divinity. She was given the opportunity to serve many churches which included Aldersgate United Methodist Church (UMC), The Masters UMC, Community of Living Hope UMC of Cleveland Ohio, Rust UMC of Oberlin, Opportunity Parish Ecumenical Neighborhood Ministry of Akron, Indianola UMC of Youngstown, Ohltown UMC of Ohltown and Seven Hills UMC of Seven Hills. Sade retired in 2012 and renewed her membership with Celebration UMC (formally Masters) where she was active in the community and the church.
Sade enjoyed bowling. She participated in many bowling tournaments and never stepped down from a challenge on the lane. Sade also enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively, both, on behalf of the church and for her personal enjoyment. Many people would agree that Sade had a beautiful sense of style and was affectionately known as a "fashion diva." Sade also was known for her spirit which could brighten anyone's day. Those who knew her came to expect words of wisdom and, at times, a few strong, feisty opinions along the way. Nevertheless, Sade was an humble woman that would go out of her way to make sure others were okay. She was also very spiritual and was not afraid to tell people how good her God was. Throughout her battle with cancer, Sade constantly repeated, "I'm not afraid and I've accepted what the doctors have said but I have not heard from God yet and God has the final word." Sade was a faithful servant of the Lord and fought her way to be with him in the Glory Land.
Sade was preceded in death by her sisters, Ernestine Calloway, Violet Burley, Zelma Mitchell and Joan Butler; her brothers, John J. Davis and James W. Davis Jr.; and her grandson, Elgan "Lil El" F. Reynolds.
She is survived by her sisters, Evelyn Watson, Betty Wilson, Ann Washington and Virginia Mae Hall; her brothers, Joe Davis and Charles Davis.
