Robert Mills was born on Sunday, August 30, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to the late John Herman and Essie Mills. He was the youngest of five siblings and was preceded in death by his brothers, Arlington Smith, Albert Mills and sister, Gwendolyn Turner.
In the early 1940’s, Robert and his family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. He later attended Glenville High School and would continue his education at Miami University where he became a naval reservist. During his stay in Cleveland, Robert met Sally Elaine James , his wife for the past 63 years. Through their union, three daughters were born: Vicky, Laura and Stacey.
Over the years, Robert had an astounding career in sales. Before his retirement, he received numerous awards and recognition for his salesmanship. He was an honoree of Who’s Who Among African Americans and was regularly featured in JET magazine.
Robert loved to travel with his wife and children. His travels entailed Europe, Aruba and Hawaii. He also frequented casinos in Las Vegas and Canada. Robert was an avid passenger of Norwegian Cruise Line which he sailed for over 40 years. His humor and affection for Pepsi, vanilla ice cream and The Wendy Williams Show will be missed.
Robert leaves behind to honor his memory: wife, Sally Mills; brother, Donald Mills (Anzel) of Phoenix, Arizona; three daughters, Vicky Mills, Laura Range (Douglas) and Stacey Mills-Thomas (Derek); six grandchildren, Eric Evans, Chrishone Lee (Lawrence), Brandon, Ashley and Christin Range and Makayla Wooten; three great-grandchildren London, Brooke and Erica Evans and a host of family and friends.
