Mrs Marie Alice (Maddox) Benson born on December 26, 1942 to the late Henry and Lena Maddox in Cleveland Ohio. She was the second of 5 children, Marie was preceded in death by both her parents, a brother James Maddox and grandson Jermaine Benson.
Marie grew up in Cleveland, attended Cleveland Public Schools. She graduated from John Hay High School in 1961. Immediately following graduation Marie began her professional career the the City of Cleveland, she eventually retired from The Division of Water in January 2005 after 37 years of service.
Marie accepted Christ at an early age, as a member of East Mt Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Downs. She later joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Andrew Sizemore and Pastor Bobby C Ward.
Marie met and fell in love with Willie J Benson they entered in holy matrimony on September 17, 1966 this union created a combined family of 3 children Willie Jr (Marilyn), Rozell (Darrell), and DeAndre (Tishawn). Marie was affectionately known as Ree Ree to those closest to her. She was one of the kindest people you will ever meet, with a calming presence whenever you are around her. Those who know Marie know she loved entertaining, her lottery scratch offs and a good casino bus trip.
Marie leaves to mourn, her husband Willie, children; Willie Jr (Marilyn), Rozell (Darrell), and DeAndre (Tishawn); (6) grandchildren, Melloni, Eric, Joshua (Danielle), Jerrod, Alexander, and Allison. (5) great grandchildren, Azarria, Kennedy, Joshua Jr, Jerrod II, and Elliana. (2) Sisters, Thelma (Darnell Sr), Roberta (Darryl); (1) Brother, Robert (Darlene). (4) Sister in Laws; Jonnie Ruth, Mary Jo, Annie Mae, and Ethel Marie (Keith). (3) Brother In laws; Richard Branham, Elton and Sylvester. Bonus son, Jamin Woods; plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
