Leonard Wadell Mixon, Jr. (Slim) departed this life at the VA Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio surrounded by family. He was the oldest of four children born to the late Leonard Wadell Mixon, Sr. and Betty Mixon.
At an early age, Leonard joined the Original Harvest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Chatman.
Leonard received his formal education from the Cleveland Public Schools Systems in Ohio and graduated from East Technical High School in Cleveland. He later attended Cuyahoga Community College to further his education.
On November 13, 1973, Leonard decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge for his service. Later, Leonard was employed by Cleveland Range, East Ohio Gas Company as a mail clerk.
Leonard was a sharp dresser, wonderful dancer, and a ladies’ man. He was a great conversationalist, and he was blessed with a charismatic singing voice. Leonard was very sociable, outgoing, talkative, and extremely funny. He was able to bring you to tears through laughter. He had a way of lighting up a room everywhere he went because of his extraordinary personality.
Leonard was a loving son and during his illness spent quality time with his mother. Whenever possible, he and his mother went everywhere together. Leonard was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence I. Mixon; stepfather, Julius Floyd, Sr.; stepbrother, Julius Floyd, Jr. He leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to be cherished by his mother, Betty Mixon Floyd; sister, Nadine Hewlett; brother, Lance A. Mixon; stepbrother, Jason Floyd (Dennia); his fiancée, Alicia Roebuck; six grandchildren, Breon, Christian, JoJuan, BJ, ZeRiyah and Aniyah; sister-in-law, Andrea Mixon; aunt, Clara Killings; uncle, Herman Mixon (Lois); five nieces, April, Lauren, Lalita, Juliet and Honor; four nephews, Norman, Lance (Lauren), Lee and Jason; and a host of other relatives and friends.
