Cleveland, Ohio. He was the first of two children born to
the late Ethel Lavern and Raymond T. Harris Sr. The late

life. Later in life, Ethel Lavern remarried to Willie James

early age Leonard Walter assumed the responsibilities of
caring for his sister and older brother who preceded him
in death as his mother worked to provide and care for her
three children.

Purple Heart recipient and was Honorably Discharged in
1952. He was a graduate of Clark Tailoring and Fashion
Design Academy. In addition to being an accomplished Tailor and Fashion Designer, Leonard
Walter retired from the Cleveland Postal Service after 42 years of service.
In 1952, Leonard W. and Dorcas M. Perry were married. Four children were born from
this union, Darrell (Marilyn), Eric, Chiron and Marchaunt. He was devoted to his wife. Their
70 years of marriage, this December would be one of their many milestones in the making as he
dedicated his life to his wife and children. Leonard has four grandchildren, Jovan, Eric Jr., Dana
Lyn and Marissa, five great-grandchildren, Elijah, Jovan II, Sanaa, Ayden and Corrine and one
great-great-grandchild Elijah Jovan.
Leonard was an amazing husband and father with a persistent work ethic He was a good
provider and protector. He was determined, creative,
resourceful, articulate, and talented in many ways. He
had a relationship with God, loved his wife, children,
grandchildren and of course his baby sister. Additionally,
he also loved his sisters-in-law along with many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Leonard Walter Harris was in Cleveland Clinic
Hospital when he transitioned from this life to his eternal
life. He left us quietly in his sleep, without pain, with family
present. He was truly loved.
Rest now Daddy. Rest in Peace.
