Leona Carriemae Albritton was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Eula Joe and Willie Shivers, on September 9, 1930; she was known as Babe, and later called Bay because she was the baby of the family. Leona graduated from Rosedale High School in 1947 and migrated to Cleveland, Ohio the same year with her late brother, Percy Shivers.
She was married to the late Harry Albritton, which preceded her death in October 1999. From this union they birthed five children: Gregory Albritton, Gwendolyn Barron (Dennis), Alfreda Albritton-Davis, Larry Albritton (that preceded her in death) and Harry Albritton (Holly).
Throughout the years, Leona provided for her family in multiple ways: she was a homemaker, she owned real estate, she dealt with contracts and contractors, clean-outs and rehabs, she was also well known for home projects and starting a trucking business with her husband. Leona was three times a Lady that supported her family and friends with love and care. Leona was patient and understanding, happy and cheerful, as well as kind and polite.
Her respectful and supportive attitude over-rode a lot of negativity. Her words were calm and soothing as the grits and oatmeal she ate. Leona found solace in all phases of gardening from: flowers, to fruit and vegetables as well as shrubbery. She inspired us all to have a green thumb.
Mrs. Albritton leaves to mourn her children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews, and friends.
