Kanoweh L. Simmons

Kanoweh L. Simmons was born on October 21, 1958 to the late Loretta Hunt Simmons and Henry L. Simmons, in Cleveland, Ohio. Her primary education was in the Cleveland Public School System where she graduated from Glenville High School in 1977.

Kanoweh had a passion for cleaning, which led her to a career in Housekeeping. She was the Supervisor of Housekeeping at the Radisson Hotel, Cleveland, Ohio for 14 years and the Hyatt Place Hotel at Legacy Village for 4 years.

Her favorite pastimes included traveling, especially to Las Vegas. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, shopping, and fashion. She was always “creased” from head to toe.

Kanoweh was full of life and lived her life on her own terms. Kanoweh never hesitated to offer a helping hand, even if it was her last. She always had a smile and a kind word. Her laugh was infectious and will be greatly missed.

She met and dated Cicero Lamar for 10 years, and to that union on September 15, 1988 she gave birth to her one and only child, Chamar C. Simmons. Chamar was the love of her life and the center of her Universe.

In 1990 she met her soulmate Michael Philpott, who she dated until her untimely passing. Everyone knows how much she loved him, and vice versa. During their relationship Mike and Chamar developed a great father/daughter relationship that speaks volumes. Kanoweh gained a soulmate in Mike, and Chamar gained a bonus dad.

Kanoweh leaves to cherish her memory her only child Chamar C. Simmons. Her soulmate Michael Philpott. Two sisters, Lisa (Gregory), Nikki (Steven Sr.). Two brothers, Kyle P. Simmons, and Michael Simmons. Two bonus daughters, Cameia Davis, and Chanel Boyd. One bonus granddaughter Ashely Davis. One niece Asheley. Two nephews, Steven Jr., and Brandon. Four great nieces, and two great nephews. Her aunts, Patricia, Centrilia (Thomas deceased), Maxine, Barbara (deceased), Elsie, and Betty. One Uncle William (Deborah deceased). First cousins, Laticia, Alisha (Wayne), Eric (Michelle), Diane, Kwan, Londi (Andre), Dana, Sandi (William), and Heather (John). Her very best friend Jimmy Locke. Special Friends: Lynn, Trina, Sharon, Flendora, Leisha, Sharice, LaTonya. A host of cousins, extended family and friends.
