Joyce M Harris was born on September 14, 1946 to the late and Clayton B (Buddy) Harris and Luedora Clark in Cleveland, Ohio. Joyce accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Faith Gospel Chapel and Elim Gospel Chapel. Joyce was a devout Christian, who lived her life honoring God.
After graduating High School, Joyce went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree and become a certified Radiology technician. Joyce became the first Black female radiology technician at Cleveland Mt Sinai Hospital, where she worked over 30+ years.
Joyce was an active member of the National Medical Association or NMA. She was a section leader for the Radiology division. She conducted a radiology workshop at the annual conference. She mentored many African American students in the area of medicine. She was working with NMA to bring the annual conference to Cleveland in 2022.
Joyce was very active in the Hough community. As a teen, she witnessed the Hough Riots of 1966 and participated in a documentary about the Riots in 2016. She was a member of the Ward 7 Advisory Board and was actively involved in several large community development projects. She was also active with her block club.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, playing the lottery, and the sound of the slot machines.
Joyce was called to eternal rest on December 31, 2020. She will be missed by all who
knew her. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory her brother Clayton Jr. "Bobby" a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
