Joe Nathan Darnell was born June 10,1954 , in Cleveland, Ohio. The youngest and only son to Joe and Imogene Darnell. " Nate", as only his closest friends and family referred to him, attended Glenville High School. Nate will be remembered for opening his home to everyone in the neighborhood to come over for many laughs, a good card game, or to watch sports on TV.

Nate followed in the footsteps of his two older sisters and made Healthcare his career. Caring for patients soon became his passion. His passion brought him to meet and marry his wife, Karla Darnell, who shared his affinity for patient care.

After 30 years of dedicated service, Nate finally retired in 2016. Nate is preceded in death by his parents, his eldest sister, Cassandra Humphrey, and his beloved "brother", William (Howard) Dorch. Nate unfortunately buried his only son, Michael Reeder in 2015.

Nate is survived by his wife, Karla and his only daughter, Reena Marie Darnell of St. Louis, MO, his loving sister, Pamela ( Kenny Moore) Allen, grandson, Michael Reeder Jr., niece, Ellen ( Donald ) Cobb of San Antonio,TX, brother and sister in law, Eric ( Tange) Moore, bonus mother,Rose Darnell, and his sisters at heart, Linda Cookie Adams and Linda Byrd, and many other family and friends who will cherish his memory.
