James Percy Hayes

James Percy Hayes, 74, of Cleveland, OH passed away at home on February 8, 2021.  On June 10, 1966, he married his devoted wife Bettye of more than 54 years.  Born in Bessemer, AL, his is the son of the late Napoleon and Ella (Reid) Hayes.  James worked and retired from Sherwin Williams, Inc. after 30 years of service.  A loving and caring man, James was an avid golfer, loved football, enjoyed traveling and cherished the time spent with his grandson.

Surviving in addition to his wife Bettye; his daughter, Yvette Hayes of Columbus, OH; son, Chris and his wife Thomasina Nolan; grandson, Thomas of Cleveland, OH; sisters, Juanita and Bonita Hayes of Bessemer, AL; brothers, Robert and Johnnie (Cody) Hayes of Cleveland, OH and Carl Hayes of Bessemer, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Derrick (Ricky) and his sister, Alma Sims of Cleveland, OH

Services will be limited to visitations due to Covid-19 restrictions.  A memorial service will be planned at a later date.  Online condolences are welcome along with pictures.

James was a loving husband, father, and a loving and caring man; he will be greatly missed by all of us.
