Homer H. Lacey III was born to parents Dorothea Philpott Lacey and Homer Lacey II in Cleveland, Ohio. Homer attended Cleveland Municipal Schools and was a talented athlete at East Technical High School. Homer married Lynda Moore and started his family. After serving in the U.S Army as a parachutist and specialist, Homer attended college in Kansas, Cuyahoga Community College, University of Cincinnati and Cleveland State. While substituting for various school districts in the Greater Cleveland area, he earned two degrees, Master in Special Education and Physical Education. Homer retired after over thirty years of service with Cleveland Municipal School District as a Special Educator teacher and sports coach. His love for basketball never ceased. He served as the President and owner of the Old Timers Basketball Organization in Cleveland and Warrensville. Homer remained an avid player and fan.
“Lacey” will be remembered for his very generous heart, endless love for instructing youth, and his stern advice that quickly diminished into one of his favorite quotes or funny original jokes.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Dorothea Philpott Lacey and Homer Lacey II; brothers, Darrell (Patricia); Sisters, Beverly, Lucius Lou, Sharon and Brenda. He leaves to mourn his passing, his significant other, Deborah (Nafisah), brother Cedric Martin (Monique); Sisters, Emily, Jacqueline and cousin/sister Lesa Lowe (William). Children mourning the loss of their father are Homer IV, Christopher, Paul, Carmen, Nya, and Raquel. There are a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss his love and guidance.
