Harold Triggs Obituary

Harold Tyrone Triggs was born August 10, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to Harold McCree and Faith O.L. Lewis. Faith later remarried Raymond Triggs who adopted Harold at an early age.  Faith and Raymond raised four children, Harold, Preston, Mark and Faith R. Triggs.

Harold led a very active life. Due to his mother’s persistence, he actively became involved in the Pythagoreans and forged lifetime bonds with his friends from 117th street in Cleveland.  Harold graduated from John Adams High School in 1965 and worked for TRW. In 1966 he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps. The Marine Corps was very near and dear to Harold’s heart. Upon his release from active duty, Harold went back to TRW and other small jobs before taking on a permanent role at Chevrolet Parma. One of his most cherished jobs at Chevrolet was serving on the Board of Directors for the Credit Union. Harold also volunteered at Sunbeam School for the Orthopedically & Health Impaired where he served as a mentor to students. His personality and wit helped him develop relationships that still exist today.

Harold loved golf and The Outer City Golf Club. You would not be surprised to see him at Highland Hills practicing for the next outing. The tales he would tell about the chip shots, eagles, bogeys and the “almost hole in one” could not upstage the commentary regarding payments for a hole. Who would have thought 25 cents would have such an impact on grown men! Those who golfed with him will have memories of a lifetime to share (or maybe not if they maintain “what happens on the course, stays on the course”!)

Those of you who really know Harold, know who his one true love is and who held his heart. You never knew what adventure they shared, you just knew it was all about them being together and having fun. Driving on trips to nowhere, going to an event because it looked interesting when he saw it on tv or spending time on vacation was part of the magic they shared. Even they didn’t know what a weekend would entail and it didn’t matter as long as they were together. As a couple it was and is apparent that LOVE lives in the Triggs household.

Harold was all about family. If you were a friend, you were “family” for life. He has a host of adopted family members, daughters, sons, cousins, brothers and sisters etc.  He loved the backyard BBQ’s, the “political and life discussions” at the cousin’s house, the throw down at Pokeno nights. The lunch dates with his prayer partner and brother were so much a part of his life. He was so proud that he won the trophy for a family contest watching Project Runway. Who would have thought!! He will be missed by so many whether you knew him for a short period or forever.

The Lord called Harold home on April 30, 2021. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, (Gennell), children: Robert, Michael (Lisa) and Wayne (Angela). Siblings: Preston (life partner Jeff), Mark (Peggy) and Faith. He is survived by a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in laws, and many friends.

So many of you will think of Harold and smile or laugh. It can’t be helped; he affected people that way. As you parted for the day, you will remember he was never shy about saying He Loved YOU!
