A life long resident of Cleveland, Ohio, Harold Jefferson Barnett grew up in the Fairfax neighborhood on East 81st Street. Harold was born on November 11, 1943. He was the son of the late Harold Sr. and Hazel Barnett. He is survived by his sister Carolyn King of Cambridge, MA and brother Walter of Cleveland, one niece and four nephews. As a youth, he enjoyed visiting his paternal grandparents in Washington, DC during his summer vacations. He participated in cub scouting at St. James AME Church and physical activities at the Cedar YMCA. In addition, he closely followed the Indians, Browns and Cavs. He graduated from East High School in 1962 and attended Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was employed as a transit operator for CTS (RTA).
