Geraldine Leach Obituary

Geraldine Reid- Leach was born May 13th, 1949, until she was called home from God April 11th, 2024.  Her time of death was at 7:03 am, she was 74 years old.

She battled cancer for over 20 years. Now she has the Victory… she is at PEACE.

Geraldine Leach was best known as Gerri. She was born and raised in the city of Cleveland, Ohio along with her 3 siblings. Gerri graduated from Glenville High School June of 1968. After attending high school, she studied and became a lab technician for the VA Hospital. Over the years, Gerri developed a strong passion to help and care for people from all walks of life. She then made the decision to further her education. She attended Cuyahoga Community College to become a registered nurse from 1976 to 1978. She received her nursing degree, issued on September 11th, 1978, ironically the same date of her nieces, Tiffany, and Timberly’s birthdate.  Her career in nursing started from the late 70’s until she recently retired from the Cleveland Clinic Hospital approximately 3 and a half years ago. Nursing is a high demanding career. It requires time and patience, and it also requires making quick rational and helpful decisions to properly care for the patients. Working 12-hour shifts for 4 days straight and 3 days off sometimes was exhausting for Gerri. Peace and quiet times were very important to her. She made sure that she received adequate time to rest and recharge her mind and body. Gerri worked for the heart and lung department at the Cleveland Clinic, so it was very important to Ms. Gerri to recharge so that she could be the best that she could be at work. She often spoked about how very fortunate to have been apart of the Cleveland Clinic foundation as a registered nurse.  Gerri was a very caring woman. She also believed in standing strong for equality and fairness. She was highly respected by her peers and family. She held strong beliefs and morals in doing the right thing. She believed in having a strong knitted family, working together in unison. She believed in sharing and looking out for family. Gerri was never the selfish type and she despised greed. She would always say “if you need me, just let me know and I’m there for you”.

Some years back, Gerri joined the beautiful group of women of The Red Hat Society. She admired their popularity, their unity, and their love for one another. She wanted to inspire others that they too can make a positive difference in the world. She would often speak about her adventures with the ladies of the Red Hat society. In Gerri’s spare time, she absolutely enjoyed watching a beautiful love story with a little suspense. Gerri loved to laugh. She attended several comedy shows. She also loved line dancing. At different social events and weddings, she would show off her line dancing moves. She loved listening to heartfelt music and going to Broadway shows. She traveled with family and close friends who were dear and very special to her. She visited Jamaica, Punta Cana, Bahamas, Mexico, Georgia, Chicago, several parts of Florida, Washington DC, Maryland, Virgina, New Orleans, Louisiana, Michigan, New York, and other parts of the United States. She always played it safe; she was never the adventurous type. She loved a sun shiny day with a great summer breeze. She loved the texture of great fabric, especially Silk, cashmere and velvet for its soft luxurious textures and high-end look. Gerri did not spend a lot on clothing, she loved getting deals. Everyone loves a great bargain especially Ms. Gerri.

Gerri was like a beautiful smooth pearl; her smile and her spirit would light up any room. She gleamed and shined her array of colors, just like the colors of iridescent. Did you know that her favorite color was iridescent. Yes, she always wore charming iridescent jewelry and nail polish. She was a woman of pride and dignity. Gerri was a powerful single black woman. She always kept her affairs together with charisma. She was witty, charming, and calming to talk to when your day was going bad. Just to hear her voice gave us all peace, with her tactful words of wisdom. Gerri was also a private woman. Only those closest to her, were allowed in her personal space and life. This beautiful woman lived an iridescent lifestyle so pure, glistening, and bright. She was a true Blessing from God. Our little ANGEL, we’re truly going to miss you, until we meet again in HEAVEN… AMEN.
