Georgia Dixon Obituary

Georgia was born in Tullahoma, Tennessee April 26, 1918. Georgia was the middle child of five siblings, two brothers and two sisters by her mother Polly Ann Wilhoite.

Georgia Dixon graduated from Meharry Nursing School in Tennessee. She graduated with her Nursing degree in 1939.  She went on to graduate from Case Western Reserve with a B.S. in Nursing.  She was one of the first black supervisors of Nursing at St. Luke, Mt. Sinai, and Metro General Hospitals.

Georgia married Clifford Dixon in 1953.  Mom had five loving, outstanding sweet stepchildren.  She never bore any children of her own.  Out of six generations, Georgia has two hundred and forty-seven grand, great-grands, and up to great, great, great grandchildren.

She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ.  Her life exemplified her walk with God and her unconditional love for others.  Georgia was a faithful, long-standing member of St. Marks for over 50 years.

All her biological family preceded Georgia in death.  Two of her stepchildren, Clifford Jr., and Janet Harrell, also preceded her in death.

Georgia is survived by three of her five stepchildren: James W. (Brenda J.), Charles K. and Ninamae Johnson.

“Many special thanks and blessings for the love and care that our loving and caring daughter-in-law, Pastor Brenda J. Dixon and stepson, James Dixon, has shown me.  I am so very thankful for them living here in Cleveland.  All our children and grands were always there for me, whenever I needed them.”
