Freddie Chapman, Jr. Obituary

Fred Chapman Jr. went home to be with the Lord the morning of Tuesday, April 20, 2021.  His final days were spent comfortably at The Greens Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Lyndhurst, Ohio where he spent days following a brief illness.

Fred Chapman Jr. was born July 1, 1942 in Grindstone, Pennsylvania, to the late Fred Chapman Sr., and Hattie Mae Chapman.

Fred was the fifth of six children born to this union. He confessed Christ at an early age at Second New Hope Baptist Church in Cleveland. Later, he became an active member of Lee Road Baptist Church on the southeast side of Cleveland.

Fred was educated in the Cleveland Public School system and graduated from East Technical High school in 1960. After graduation, Fred was drafted into the United States Army, where he served from April 16, 1964 and honorably discharged on April 13, 1966.

From Nov 1, 1964, to October 1, 1965, Fred served in the Vietnam War.  He received the Purple Heart, a military honor bestowed to those wounded, or who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to our country.

In civilian life, Fred worked at the Chevrolet Plant in Parma, Ohio as a maintenance truck driver for 35 years until his retirement.

Fred was joined in Holy Matrimony to Barbara Finch March 24, 1995.  They were United at Lee Road Baptist Church. Fred enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, his brothers, sisters-in-law, and extended family and friends.
