Flossie George Obituary

Flossie George ( McGraw) was born on August 17,1942 in Cleveland, Ohio to Flossie McGraw and Dallas Sweeney, Jr. who proceded her in death. Flossie's mother passed away at an early age and she was raised by her grandparents, John and Pearl McGraw, like a sibling, along with her aunts, Doris and Ola McGraw. Flossie was the oldest of eight siblings from the union of her father, Dallas Sweeney Jr. and stepmother, Tarah Sweeney.

Flossie professed Christ at an early age and joined the Shiloh Baptist Church.

Flossie attended the Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from East Technical High School January 1961. Soon after graduation she met and married henry George ( affectionately known as "POPS") November 11,1961. To their union one child, John George  was born.

Flossie was employed by the Cleveland Public schools working at  East Technical Highschool and East Highschool as the school secretary. She retired in 2006 from East High school after serving more than 40 years. Flossie loved her work and especially her years at East Tech Highschool. As a life long " Scarab", she not only graduated from East Tech but touched the lives of many staff and students during her many years of employment.

Flossie and Pops enjoyed traveling and visiting family however, their favorite past time was fishing. They were known to fish from Florida to Ohio and everywhere in between. Flossie had a special love for her family. Flossie treasured the time spent with grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins. She could be counted on for her sound advice, short term loans, or a shoulder to cry on. All will miss her quick wit, flip remarks and funny comebacks.

Flossie leaves to cherish her memory a loving son, John M. George ( Tara Jackson), four sisters: Thelma Smith, Bernicce Houston, Rhonda Flores, Annette Sweeney ( Clarence Siglar), three brothers; Dallas Sweeney lll, Clifton Sweeney, and Lon Sweeney, two grandchildren; Tierra Griffin and John L. George, four greatgrandchildren, A'Layah Lewis, Zai'mier Black, John L. George Jr., and Zai'den Black., extended grandchildren; Cierra Griffin, Antoine Logan, David Goolsby, Pierre Wade, Charles Jackson, Teana and Tarin Jackson, two first cousins; Eunice Roberts and Faith Morehouse, a special friend Pat Hill and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
