Elsa Mae Simpson Hart was the third of five children born to Robert Simpson and Eice Eulalia (Lee) Simpson.
With the exception of having attended Clark College in Atlanta, Ga for one year, Elsa has lived, worked, and retired in Cleveland, Ohio.
During her high school years, and the second World War, Elsa worked in a factory (changed her age) as a "Rosey the Riveter".
After graduation from John Adams High School in 1946, Elsa remained gainfully employed in office clerical positions, including the Navy Department. She retired after having worked in several secretarial positions throughout the Cleveland Public School System.
Elsa and Charles Hart married in 1948. Together they had 2 sons, Charles and Brian. Both her husband Charles, and son Brian are deceased, as is a son Carlton (twin to Charles), who died at birth.
Charles and Elsa enjoyed their
retirement years travelling through most of mainland United States and toured many Canadian cities. In June of 2004, they travelled with The Heritage Chorale to Italy, where Pope St John II gave Audience and blessings, and where the chorale sang at the Basilica while in Rome,
From a young age, Elsa enjoyed singing; be it traditional church music, spirituals, or classical repertoire. In addition to church choirs, she sang soprano in both The Heritage Chorale And in the Ecumenical Disciples Choir until
the age of 90.
For many years Elsa actively participated in the OES Eastern Star, Chapter #51.
Elsa was a founding member of Calvary Congregational Church, where she had held several Church Board positions for nearly 20 years.
She loved participating in extended and smaller family gatherings (without the pets).
She enjoyed dressing with style, and was not a fan of "homemade" attire.
Elsa is survived by her son Charles and daughter-in-law Sharon; 3 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, and 1 great granddaughter,
11 nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and grand-nephews,
and cousins.
And to this life we say,
"Well done, thou good and faithful
servant"
