Dwight Brooks Obituary

Dwight Louis Brooks was born September 26, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the second eldest of four children born to Laura Almeada Jones Brooks and Louis Brooks Jr. He departed this life on July 27, 2018.
Dwight was a 1971 graduate of John Adams High School. In 1974, Dwight Louis Brooks was inducted into the U. S. Air Force after attending Kent State University for two years. While in the Air Force Dwight was trained in airplane mechanics specializing in repair and operations of B-2 Stealth Bombers. His tours of duty included Colorado Springs, CO, Okinawa Japan, London, England, Las Vegas NV, Apache Junction, AZ, and Germany. He was involved in the Persian Gulf as an Aircraft Aviation Specialist.
Dwight resided in Sacramento, California along with his three children: Shaylon, Jakiel, Tylannia and former wife Bettye Davis. Dwight retired and was honorably discharged from the Air Force after twenty years as an airplane mechanic and trainer.
After retiring, Dwight was a salesman for Toyota, was a Disc Jockey for many events on and off base and sold and collected art. Dwight was also a health care aid for several families in Sacramento, CA. Dwight completed his Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts at American River College, and his Associate of Science in Aeronautics from Sacramento City College. His last professional position was with PKL Services Inc., where he was assigned to Kamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia as an F-15 Eagle Airplane instructor.
Dwight enjoyed life and had life-long friends around the globe, in California, at Antioch Baptist Church and on Lipton Avenue. He was a diehard Cavalier and Browns fan and also enjoyed the Trailblazers and Kings. His love of sports stemmed from his time as a basketball player at Charles W. Eliot Junior High School and from coaching students on several military bases. Like his father, he enjoyed movies and particularly westerns. One of his favorite westerns was The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. He loved Motown music and the O' Jays and like his sisters, he especially loved working with children.
Retired U. S. Master Sargent Dwight Louis Brooks is survived by his three children: Mr. Shaylon Lekeis Brooks, Mr. Jakiel DeElrin Brooks, Ms. Tylannia Jalise Brooks-Rawlins and three sisters: Dr. Ovella Roulette-McIntyre (Shaker Heights, Ohio), Dr. Debora L. Brooks-Golden (Plymouth, Minnesota), Dr. Brenda E. Turner (Macedonia, Ohio) and Nieces and Nephews: Dr. Gregory Taurésé Danté Roulette, Mr. Brian Alexander Brooks Golden, Ms. Breoni Jonise Turner and Mr. Xavier David Brooks Golden.
