Direthenia Rosetta Greer ‘Dot, or Dottie’ was born on November 29, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late James Greer Sr. and the late Beulah Louise (Alexander) Greer. She was the third of seven children; James Greer Jr., William T. Greer Sr. (deceased), Irvin R. Greer Sr. (deceased), Patricia A. Greer (deceased), Steven D. Greer Sr., and Elenor Greer. She also leaves behind four sisters-in-law, Sandra Greer, Zenia Greer, Connie Hargewood, and Angela Greer. She found Christ at an early age.
Direthenia was educated through the East Cleveland School District, where she then graduated from Shaw High School in 1975.
Direthenia worked various jobs throughout her life; W.O. Walker Building, Tri-C Community College, and a County Daycare Provider. She also had various hobbies such as baking, where she is known for her delicious sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, and other special delights such as her famous banana pudding, to her cakes and homemade cookies for her grandchildren. She also loved to hand stitch small things, if a button was missing, to a rip or snag, she was always there to the rescue to mend it back together as new.
Dot was a wonderful, one of a kind beautiful woman, from her flawless freckles, to her impeccable eyebrows, a ray of sunshine, which gracefully brightens a room with her smile, wherever she goes. To know her, was to love her whole being.
Direthenia departed this life to be with the lord on Sunday, April 18, 2021. She leaves to cherish her memories to: her four loving children, Raychelle Greer, Tomacha Greer, Airrione Newell, and Jabril Greer Sr.; (7) grandchildren, Antwain Sears Jr., Anthony Sears, Antwainazha Sears, Antwainice Sears, La’Tayviah Coleman, Sha’marr Coleman, Jabril Greer Jr., and a host of nieces nephews, and great nieces, great nephews, aunties, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Mommy; in our hearts we think of you today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. Now all we have are memories, and pictures of you in frames. Your memories are our forever keepsakes, with which we’ll never part. God has you in his keeping. We’ll have you in our hearts.
