Decie Lenora Williams was an only child. Decie was born on August 31, 1925 to loving parents Major and Annella Campbell (deceased). She passed away on August 11, 2022 at the age of 96. She was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Decie attended Central High School where she met her high school sweetheart General Williams whom she married on January 7, 1941. Through this union, they had three beautiful daughters; Bettye Gordon (Joe) deceased, Valorie Allen (LeNell), and Denise Patterson (Ruben I).
Decie attended Central School of Practical Nursing and graduated at the top of her class. She worked at University Hospital and Margret Wagner Nursing Home. Decie retired from Benjamin Rose Nursing Institute as a Geriatric Nurse.
Decie enjoyed traveling. She and her husband founded their annual family reunion at Atwood Lake Lodge and this annual family tradition continued for 50 plus years until the resort closed. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping and was known as a “fashionista”. She was an avid reader and she continued to read throughout the days prior to God calling her home.
Family meant the world to Decie. She is proceeded in death by her husband General Williams and both of her parents. She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters and two spiritual daughters; Bettye (Joe) deceased, Valorie (LeNell), Denise (Ruben I), Leola (Gestand) and Patricia, 9 grandchildren; Kim, Kathy, Kelli (Shawn), Joey (Zelda), Wendy (Seaton), Ruben II (Crystal), Tiffani (Arkiko), Christian (Paige) and Sharon. She also leaves to cherish 18 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
