Daniel Montfort Obituary

Daniel Paul Montfort was born on January 7, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was the sixth of eleven children born to Albert and RosaLee (Phillips) Montfort, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up and received his formal education from Cleveland Public School District.

On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, Daniel reached the end of his life and peacefully passed from time into eternity to be with the Lord.

Daniel was an army veteran, serving his country faithfully in the Korean War.  He was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division. While serving his country, Daniel met and married, Willie Mae Weldon in 1956.  That union was blessed with two daughters, Donna and Denise.

Daniel returned to Cleveland, Ohio and worked at SPS Technologies, until his retirement in 1998.  Daniel married the love of his life, Hazel Pauline Norton, in June of 1978.  Through this union, he gained another daughter, Diane.

Daniel loved his family, old cars, traveling and his home.  His home became the hospitality house of the street, with an invisible sign, “Come on in and chat.”  He loved good conversation and telling stories of his travels and experiences in his life. Daniel loved his grandchildren and attended their sporting events, concerts and graduations. He loved sitting in his family room, surrounded by the many beautiful photos of his family. He could often be found working and beautifying his home and taking care of his lawn. He was known by many names, brother, daddy, grandpa, Uncle Dan and friend.

Daniel leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughters: Donna Montfort, Denise Hudson and Diane Russell-Hunter (Todd); Grandchildren, Jason Hudson, Anthony Scruggs, Jr., Olivia Mayfield-Davis (John), Tanner Mayfield, Christian Mayfield, David Fletcher and Sierra Miller; and great-grandson, Chaise Scruggs and Honesty Jones; sisters, Ruth Bugg, Naomi Fluellen, RosaLee Martin, Rachel Lee and Judy Montfort and a host of family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his grandson, Steven Hudson; sisters, Zipporah Holland, Alberta Coes, NoraLee Harris, Rebecca Vidugiris (Richard) and his brother, Samuel Montfort.  A special mention of gratitude and appreciation goes to Brendalis Solis.
