Climet Renfroe, lovingly known as "Maine", was born on November 8, 1932 in Tuskegee, Alabama to the union of William and Leola Renfroe (both deceased). He was one of 13 children that came to be from his parents marriage. From a young age, his parents instilled in him the importance and greatness of the Lord and faith, in which he carried with him his entire life.
In 1953, he ventured north to Cleveland, Ohio with his first wife Beatrice Phillips (Renfroe). To this union are: Clementine (Teany) Renfroe, Elizabeth Renfroe, Abdul Muhammad, and Timothy Renfroe (deceased). As much as Climet wanted to keep his family together while trying to find his bearing and gainful employment in Cleveland, his union to Beatrice came to an end some years after their journey to Cleveland. During their time together and navigating through their new life he met another person that would also be instrumental in his life, David Collins (biological father). He learned a lot about himself and family, which made him stronger and more determined after they met.
Into the 1960’s, he worked mainly in construction, factory settings, and carpentry. He found his way while living in Cleveland and met his current wife, the love of his life, Mary P. Renfroe. To this union which solidified in 1965 are: William P. Renfroe, Paula A. Renfroe, Climet N. Renfroe. In 1970, the family settled on Steinway Avenue in Cleveland where he raised the latter three children with Mary. Climet loved to see and visit his children and was instrumental in assisting in the upbringing of many of his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife of over 50 years, Mary. His children: Clementine (Teany) Renfroe, Elizabeth Renfroe, Abdul K. and Kaleema Muhammad, William P. and Barbara Renfroe, Paula A. Renfroe-Bennett and Collins J. Bennett, Jr., Climet N. Renfroe, Tyrone Watson, and Regina Hall; grandchildren: Amanda, Courtney, Iesha, Abdullah, Hashim, Akilah, Mildred, Matthew, Auriel, Mark, Bryanna, David, Le’cole, Angel, Regina, Noland, Chaleah, Tyrone Jr., Elaina, Tynee’sha, Brandon, Britanni, Tiffani, and a whole bunch of great-grandchildren, 22 and counting! Siblings, Mary Jane Renfroe, Queen Harris, Ida Canady all of Tuskegee, AL and a long list of other family members and friends who may not be listed but certainly are not forgotten. Let’s not forget the multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, people whose life he’s impacted and molded, and anybody else that knew this superhero of a man. You’ll be greatly missed, but never forgotten. The love and lessons he’s given all of us will last a lifetime. Until next time, rest easy and we know you’re looking over us as you always have.
