Clarice (Morgan) Render was born May 13, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Render Jr.; her parents, Isaac and Selina (Rice) Morgan; sisters, Betty Jean Forrest, and Geraldine Biles; and son-in-law, Thomas R. Owens, Jr.
She attended Cleveland Public Schools and then Kent State University where she intended to major in Elementary Education. However, her late husband saw that her life’s ambition was helping and giving herself to others, so he encouraged her to pursue nursing as a career. Her desire to serve others led to the Jane Adams School of Practical Nursing and Cuyahoga Community College for a BS in Nursing. Having completed her work, she became a Registered Nurse and provided exceptional care for her patients, family and friends for over 50 years. She retired from both Kaiser Permanente and Huron Road Hospitals.
She was married to James Albert Render, Jr. for 24 years. To this union one daughter, Claudia Yvonne, was born.
Clarice was first a member of Lee’s AME Memorial Church and later Open Door Baptist Church where she was a Mother’s Helper. In early 2003 she and her daughter joined Mt. Zion Oakwood Village where she became a Lady in White of the Church.
Clarice was a dedicated Girl Scout Troop leader for 10 years. She was a faithful member of Wisdom Chapter #15 of Eastern Star and Bezaleel Assembly #19 Order of the Golden Circle. Although she was not active, she continued to participate as time and her health allowed. She was also a longtime member of Chi Eta Nursing Sorority, Nu Chi Chapter of Cleveland, Ohio. Clarice enjoyed bowling and playing bid whist with her ladies’ card group.
On Saturday, September 5, 2020, the Lord called Clarice home. Left with beautiful memories and pearls of wisdom are daughter, Claudia Yvonne; sister, Marceline; brother, Daniel (Sue); sisters-in-law, Mary and Valerie; nieces: Selina, Pricilla, Deborah, Dannetta, Margaret, Dana (Eddie), and Regina (Wendell); nephews: Charles R.
