Carole Choice Obituary

Carole Ann Choice was born on December 26, 1939 to the late Roosevelt Hinton and Josie Jackson Hinton.  She was the sixth born of 9 children.

Carole married her husband, John Choice in February 27, 1960.  They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in February, 2021.

Carole was a graduate of the East Technical High School.  She took classes at the Cuyahoga Community College and later attended Cleveland State University.

Carole was an employee of the Ohio Bell Telephone Co.  She started as a cord switchboard operator and later advanced to a management position.  She retired in 1989.  Carole was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Volunteer organization, participating in many events including the cancer walks and helping at the Northeast Ohio Special Olympics.

Carole also volunteered for several years at the Urban League of Cleveland, in their Career Beginning Program and later became employed by the Urban League.

Carole loved to travel.  She went to countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America.  She went on annual Caribbean cruises with her travel agent brother-in-law Smitty (James Smith), for many years.

Carole accepted Christ at an early age and as an adult she joined the Fifth Christian Church Disciples of Christ.  She served as a Sunday Teacher working with Mrs. Gwen Eckstein and was a member of the Delightful Disciples Senior Ministry, until her health prevented her from attending.  Carole’s strong faith carried her through many years of health problems and never faltered.

Carole loved her family and was one of the favorite aunts to her many nieces and nephews.  She cared for her parents and several of her older siblings as their health failed.  She went to California to bring her brother Bobbie back to Cleveland after he had a stroke.  She enjoyed following the family on Facebook since she was housebound, to see new babies and watch the young great great nieces and nephews grow.

She was preceded in death by three of her brothers, Roosevelt Jr, Bobbie and Tommy Hinton and her oldest sister, Marie D. (Hinton) Smith.

Carole leaves to cherish her memory, her husband John Choice, sister Ernestine Suddeth, brother Donald Hinton, and 3 sisters-in-law, Alzata Choice, Elverna Cummings and Jennie Hinton of Clinton, Maryland, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.  Carole was also beloved by her many friends, co-workers and church family.  She will be sorely missed
