Carl Vincent Sanders, Sr. was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 22, 1941 to Mary Warren and Mitchell Sanders, (both preceded him in death).
Carl accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Sardis Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio.
Carl graduated from Glenville High School, Cleveland, Ohio. “Jimmy”, as he was affectionately called by his family, married Izetta Thomas on February 14, 1959, and out of this union they became the proud parents of two sons, Carl Vincent Sanders, Jr. and Darrell Christopher Sanders (deceased in 2008).
In 1962, Jimmy became a father to a daughter, Carla Rosetta Lundy in Delaware.
He was accepted into the United States Air Force where he served eight years, and was honorably discharged in 1967. After leaving the Air Force he was blessed to have a career at Pacific Bell/AT&T until his retirement at the tender age of 59.
Jimmy moved from San Francisco, California to Cleveland, Ohio at which time he was able to spend quality time with his grandchildren in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and here in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a very loving and generous grandfather who enjoyed many holidays and visits with all of them. Maybe the best! He loved all of his grandchildren.
Jimmy would often meet at Larchmere Tavern where he enjoyed spending time with many of his friends. He was also an amateur photographer who loved taking pictures.
Jimmy became ill and preferred to spend a lot of time in his home. After a long illness, Jimmy passed away peacefully in his home in Shaker Heights, Ohio on June 30, 2020.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories a loving son, Carl Vincent Sanders, Jr., daughter, Carla Rosetta Lundy of Dallas, Texas, sister, Barbara Clark (Richard), brothers: Curtis Cavanaugh, John Cavanaugh and Micheal Cavanaugh, grandchildren: Carmekia Waltonen (Antoine), Carla Sanders, Carl Vincent Sanders III, Christopher Sanders-Gresham, Courtney Cole (Terry), Christina Sanders and a host of other great grandchildren, relatives, friends, and a dear and loving friend, Yvonne Wilson.
