Beatrice Pinkney Jones was one of five children born to the union of Pernell ( Vance) and Macklin Pinkney on March 19,1934 in Birmingham, AL. Beatrice was the third of five children. She was preceded in death by her brothers; Macklin Jr.( Gloria),Floyd ( Jean),Lawrence ( Delores),and survived by her living sibling, Deborah Ann Pettus.
Beatrice graduated from Glenville Senior Highschool and later attended Bowling Green State University.
Beatrice was joined in Holy matrimony to John Paul Jones On October 8,1955. From their union, three daughters were born; Jocelyn Roberta Jones( deceased), Tracy Lucille Jones and candace Ann Tyree ( Darryll). John Paul Jones passed away in 2004.
As a young woman Beatrice was a local model featured in the Cleveland area newspaper under the direction of Eve Brown Modeling Studio.
Beatrice worked and retired as a Customer Service Representative with the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company. Beatrice was very sociable and loved to read and travel. She especially loved to visit neighboring casinos. In later years, she became an avid ancestry researcher for the family. " Bea" was also a soul food cook extraordinaire, ( BBQ pig feet, chitterlings, oxtails and fried okra). Bea was the family matriarch and was usually the information center for most family connections." If you want to know, call Bea !!."
Beatrice was a longtime member of the Olivet Institutional Baptist Church. She joined Olivet under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Odie M. Hoover, and continued her services under the Reverend Dr. Otis Moss,Jr. and Reverend Dr. Jawanza Karriem Colvin, until her failing health prevented her from attending.
Beatrice was the proud grandmother of Paul Andrew Tyree, Paul Michael Tillery ll, Devon Robert Tyree, Sidney Marie Tyree and Chandra Rutolo ( step grandchild), and great great grandmother of Savannah Riley Trivisonno.
On February 14,2021 , Bea closed her eyes and went to be with the Lord.
She was also survived by a host of other relatives, neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
