Barbara Loftis was born October 2, 1934 in Booneville, Mississippi to parents Prentis and Virgie Loftis (both deceased), and sister Dorothy Loftis. Briefly moving to Chicago, Illinois with her father she then reunited with her sister, mother, and grandmother in Cleveland, Ohio. She later had two beautiful twin children, daughter Paulette Hanks (Morris) (deceased) and son Paul Hanks (Mateen) with Charles J. Hanks.
Barbara took pride in her work and loved working with people, cherishing the friends she made along the way. She worked in entertainment for 10 years and later continued her career in the golfing industry retiring from Barrington Golf Club after 18 years on October 12, 2012.
In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, shopping for herself and shopping for others. Her love for extravagant items showed in her everyday life, her unique personality, and through the gorgeous styling of her silver/gray hair. Her children were an important part of her life giving her joy, but the death of her daughter Paulette brought her great sadness.
She transitioned on November 18, 2020 and will lovingly be remembered by her son Paul Mateen (Betty), granddaughter Sumayya Mateen-Jackson, grandson Fredrick Morris Jr., great-grandchildren Shayla and Damian Jackson Jr. and a host of other siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for your expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.
