Anthony Vincent Green (Tony) was the second of four sons born to Joseph W. Green and Synester Green, in Cleveland Ohio, May 31, 1956. He graduated from Glenville High School and went on to col-lege at Central State University where he earned a BA degree In graphic design. He also became a member of the Mad Dogs Frater-nity and was known as “Mad Dog Jack”. Later in life he became a member of the Prince Hall Masons, Excelsior, Lodge #11.
Tony was a talented artist and at a very young age he would sketch cartoon characters while watching them on TV. After graduating from CSU He was employed by the Boeing Corporation in Seattle, Wash-ington where he created graphic design prototypes for aircraft.
Upon leaving Boeing and returning to Cleveland, Tony became an educator and taught for several years at various schools in-cluding John Hay and East Technical High Schools.
Tony was a snazzy dresser and along with his brothers, David and Michael, as well as his “brothers from other mothers”, Tony walked the red carpet (at the Red Carpet Lounge) and gained a reputation as one of the best dressed young men in Cleveland at that time. He and his late wife Vera, who was known for her vin-tage style, were featured in Essence Magazine in 1978.
From an early age, Tony was very athletic and played both baseball and football. Football was his favorite and he dreamed of playing for a university and being drafted into the NFL. Unfortunately, before he began college he sustained a serious injury to his knee during a street scrimmage.
Tony was a quirky, amusing, guy who loved conversation, was fun to be with, and he had many friends. When his favorite team, The Michi-gan State Wolverines, games were televised he would outfit himself in their gear before watching the game.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, David Green; and nephew Chrisjaan Whitson. Deeply mourning his loss are his sister Annette McGruder; Brothers, Michael Green and Barry Green, and his niece Tanya Martin. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles , cousins, and a host of loving friends.
