Anderson O’Dell Small Sr of Cleveland, Ohio, peacefully passed away on May 13, 2023 after a long fight against kidney and heart failure.
Anderson was born January 10,1947, to the late Freeman Small Sr and Leila Wathall in Sawyerville Alabama.
Anderson attended Hale County Training School where he obtained his high school diploma and shortly thereafter, In 1964, made his journey to Cleveland, Ohio where he would marry Gloria D. (Dunnican)Small, becoming the father of Stacie R. Cole and born through their union, Kimberly D Small and Anderson O Small Jr.
Anderson was a faithful member of Starlight Baptist Church.
Anderson's employment history was short lived as he was Injured on his job, deeming him to be unable to work In the state of Ohio, but ultimately causing him to do a greater work In his family as time passed. Anderson did not allow the disability to stop him, for many years he had his barbershop In his basement. He picked up jobs at the neighborhood corner stores and gas stations, and he often extend his hand to help those around him.
Anderson may not have been a man of many accolades, but he was an available man, a man committed to his family, and friends and a man who met no strangers. Anderson, In his own unique way left a legacy of cooking, joking, telling embellished stories, and displaying what It meant to never leave or forsake family.
There was no mystery of where you could locate Anderson because until his final moments he remained a resident at 519 East 103, when his health took a turn, he shared with his daughter Kim that he had no desire to leave his home, he said " this Is where I raised my family, I fed people from this house, I have a legacy here".
Anderson enjoyed being with his brothers, playing dominos, he loved his blues, sports, westerns, playing his lottery numbers and taking care of his grandchildren. He was proud of his children and grandchildren and those who came encounter with him knew that, he always made sure he shared their accomplishments. He was one who led his children, nieces and nephews alike, to believe that they could do anything that they set their mind to do.
Anderson lived a full 76 years of life. He offered much wisdom and absolutely loved to talk, his yearly travels to Alabama with his brothers and cousins did not end with his physical trips, he made sure he called and talked to his family, he was intentional about keeping in touch people.
Anderson leaves to cherish him, his three Children; Stacie (Edward) Cole, Kimberly Small, Dell (Marshell Dunnican) Small, his seven Grandchildren; Adam Ceasor, Christel Brown, Kiran Taylor, Tiara Cole, Kiera Taylor, Kevin Taylor, Amara Dunnican and his eight Great-Grandchildren; Zavion Ceasor, James White, Jacey White, Armani Ceasor, Karter Bryant, Kali Taylor, Ace Taylor and Karson Taylor. His beloved brothers Clarence (Jimmie) Small, Joseph (Virginia) Small, Rozelle (Bridgett) Small, James Small, Clevell Small and his sister Mary Rice. Lastly, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Anderson goes on to be with a cloud of witnesses, he Is preceded In death by his wife Gloria Small, his brothers Freeman Small Jr., Alonzo Small, and his sisters Sophia Small, Susie Ellis, Bertha Jeffries and Ethel Small-Dudley.
