ALONZO COBB MORGAN (AKA BYRD)
Alonzo Cobb Morgan (Byrd) was an incredible man. Everyone that knew and loved him realized his good and genuine spirit. In all the years that we shared he was always a fun, comical and happy man. If you asked him how he was doing, he would respond “I’m alive and well”.
He loved to roller skate and play pool. He enjoyed and played in several pool tournaments in and out of town. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers fan. He was a man of many talents and he enjoyed them all. He loved Porsche cars and was the owner of 4 over the years. In fact, I once told him that I thought he loved his car more than me. He said, “Please don’t make me choose!!”
Alonzo was a Vietnam Veteran and often wore hats and clothing to reflect his service in the US Army. He retired from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District where he worked as a bus driver and later as a Field Supervisor. Alonzo was a vegan for the past 44 years and wouldn’t hesitate to encourage others to be mindful of their diet. He enjoyed walking the neighborhood 3-4 times a week for 2-3 miles. He was a spiritual man who believed everyone should be treated with respect regardless of belief or background.
He shared a special bond with his only grandchild, Spencer.
He leaves loving and fond memories to his wife, Brenda, and his grandson, Spencer; nieces Kelly Vowell (Bruce) and Andrea Swails-Ray (Melvin); and his special lifelong friend, Obie Smith (VJ). Preceding him in death were his parents, Alonzo and Minnie Morgan; siblings Cephus, Melva and Danny Morgan.
Rest in eternal peace my Love.
