Edward McVay, beloved son, brother, father, grandfather and friend, transitioned this life on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Hillcrest Hospital Cleveland Clinic. "Mac" as he was affectionately known was born to the union of the late Walter McVay Sr. and Roberta (Tubbs) McVay, on February 9, 1937 in Centerville, Alabama.
Mac as a young 18-year-old was adventurous, and while still in High School joined the Army Reserve in 1955 and stayed until 1962. He graduated from Druid High School in Tuscaloosa Alabama. He travelled throughout the United States before settling in Cleveland, Ohio. In Cleveland he planted roots, married twice and had three children. Edward McVay was employed at Ferrol Company and later at Ben Venue Lab for several years. He was a loyal and hard worker who always tried to do his best.
Mac lived a life full of laughter, good friendships and goodwill. Anyone fortunate to meet and get to know Mac would agree that he was the nicest person to know. His smile would light up the world and made anyone in his company happy and comfortable. He took pleasure in making others laugh and he had the best stories to tell. He was always willing to assist his family, friends and strangers, in whatever way he could. Mac loved to attend church and became a Deacon, who practiced his faith daily by being helpful and caring for others.
He loved music, loved going to the movies, loved watching football and had a passion for Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was a man who lived with passion, energy and a love of life. He will be sadly missed by all of us who he has left behind; because a bright light has gone out. Mac will be forever remembered by those who were lucky enough to know him.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his sons: Jason McVay and Marsallis Davis; four sisters: Mary (L.C.) Richardson, Dorothy (WM) Martin, Brenda (Sam) Culberson, Lenda McGowan; three grandchildren: Jeremiah McVay, Jayden McVay and Marcus McVay: a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, brother and sister.
