Kenneth Taylor Obituary

 

Kenneth Meals Taylor was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 4, 1930. He was the eldest of four children Charles, Ralph and Betty born out of the union of Leonard C and Hattie Meals Taylor.  His father Leonard, and mother Hattie, brother Charles and sister Betty preceded him in death.

Kenneth attended the Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from East Technical High School where he obtained his High School Diploma. He joined the United States Army where he served one year.  He was honorably discharged in 1948.  Upon returning home he joined the Active Reserve.

On June 26, 1954 Kenneth married Dorothy Carter and two children were born Michael and Gina.

During his youthful years he became a Boy Scout leader rising to the ranks of an Eagle Scout.  As a result of his involvement in scouting, he became Assistant Scout Master of Troop 551 in the year 1963.

Kenneth retired from the Federal Government, Postal Service Division in 1988, after serving Thirty -Seven years.  He was a recipient of many awards and particularly for One Million Miles of Safe Driving for more than Thirty years.

Kenneth was a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, where he served as a tour guide at the Central Area Satellite Office.  He had accumulated more than Seven Hundred Sixty-Eight Hours of service.  Kenneth liked to travel and was a member of the Captain’s Quarters, where he had an opportunity to travel and visit many Islands.

Kenneth was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered when needed.  Kenneth participated in many of the activities that occurred at the Church.

He preceded his wife (Dorothy) and during the years he joined The Lake City Men’s Club. He enjoyed being around men he knew and grew up with.

He leaves to mourn his son Michael (Linda Gwinn-Ferguson), Gina Taylor- Foster (Phillip), granddaughter (Brianna), and brother Ralph (Phillis),  preceded in death Charles “Taggie”, Betty Tucker (Chuck),  nephew Leonard, Robert Fields and John, (Sherri Bozman) nieces Terri Dzurilla (Tim), Jeanette (DeAndre Byrd), Diane Taylor and John, (Sherri) Bozman and  the entire Bridgeforth Family in Alabama and a host of cousins and other family members and friends.
