On September 9, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio Elvin and Daisy Harris were blessed with their second of 3 sons. They named him Elvin Harris Jr. Elvin was given the nickname of Speedy as a young boy, and it has continued throughout his life. Speedy developed a strong faith in Jesus Christ at a young age that has stayed with him throughout his life.
He attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from Collinwood High School in 1974. Speedy was employed by University Hospitals where he worked for over 25 years in Supply Services. He was a loyal employee and looked forward to attending the annual Quarter Century reunion events.
He married Muriel Curtis in 1977 and they raised 3 sons. Elvin Brian Harris, Daidrick Taylor Harris, and Kyle Alexander Harris.
Attended Tri-C Western Campus majoring in Graphic Design where he played basketball
As a young man Speedy enjoyed playing Muni League Basketball at several recreation centers all over the city of Cleveland.
Speedy was a Free and Accepted Master Mason
A 4th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He represented the US in International Competition. Fighting on the United States National Tae Kwon Do Team.
Enjoyed playing pool and competed in multiple leagues
Loved watching all of Cleveland Sports Teams
Coached his son’s Little League Baseball teams and taught Karate to Youth in Greater Cleveland.
Loved Listening to Smooth Jazz
His parents and older brother Carter preceded him in death. Speedy leaves to mourn his passing his 3 sons, a grandson Kamron, a Granddaughter Jakayia, a brother Dwayne, multiple Aunts, Uncles, Sister in Laws, Brother in Laws, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.
