Bernice Carter was born on November 27, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late James C. and Julia Thomas. Bernice, age 75, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2019 at Diplomat Health Nursing Facility in North Royalton, OH under care of Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
She graduated from John Adams High School in the class of 1962. She was employed at General Electric, Nela Park and JCPenney. She furthered her career at Tri-C East and became a nurse. She enjoyed helping and caring for others. She loved gardening in her flower bed and growing vegetables. She also loved arts and crafts.
She is survived by a son, Mark E. Pettigrew (Vivian) and a niece, Toka Ivey. Her brother, Victory J. Thomas, preceded her in death.
The family would like to give special thanks to Tonia Baggett, RN, Glenda Brook, STNA, and Fran Zupon, RN of Great Lakes Caring Hospice for providing tender loving care in our time of need.
Her cremated remains will be interred at a later date.
