Elizabeth Brooks

October 25, 1933 ~ September 4, 2019 (age 85)

Elizabeth Brooks was born October 25, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the sixth of seven children of the late Sam and Nonie Brooks.

Elizabeth accepted Christ at an early age. She followed the tradition of the three generations before her and became a lifelong member of St. Paul AME Zion Church. Elizabeth attended the Cleveland Public Schools. She then went to work at the Smith and Lustig paper box company where she retired after 40 years of dedicated and loyal service.

Elizabeth enjoyed cooking and baking. Her skill at baking earned her quite a reputation at her church, in her family, and in the community. Her baked goods were in high demand. Elizabeth was a very active person. She loved having fun, from her many trips to the Kentucky Derby to her long affiliation with the Myrtis Taylor dance group she loved so dearly.

In addition, Elizabeth was an avid shopper and enjoyed buying for others. Most especially for her beloved and devoted only child, Marsha Ann, in whom she took great pride and who was the source of much of her joy.

Elizabeth was a devoted mother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She now joins her parents, siblings: Russell, Betty, Katherine, Callie, Sam and Dorothy who all preceded her in death.

Elizabeth loved her family and leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life: daughter Marsha Ann, 6 nephews, 6 nieces and cousins, all of whom she loved as if they were her own children. She also leaves to rejoice in her memory many friends she had made throughout her life.
