Reflections of Life
Lizabeth (Beth) Ann Brooks Stokes was born August 20,1970 to Drucilla Simmons Brooks and the late Willie Ellis Brooks in Springfield, IL.
Beth accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Springfield, IL under Pastor Samuel Hale, Jr. Beth later joined Olivet Institutional Baptist Church, Pastor Dr. Jawanza K. Colvin.
Beth was an outstanding student. She excelled scholastically and in a variety of sports. After graduating from Springfield High School, Beth earned both her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Medical degree from the University of Illinois. She completed her training in obstetrics and gynecology at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI in 2002.
It was there where she met the love of her life, Dr. Womack Stokes and on September 14th, 2002, Beth and Womack were united in holy matrimony. To this union, they were blessed with two amazing daughters; Isabella and MacKenzie.
Beth was an associate staff member in the Women's Health Institute of the Cleveland Clinic. She practiced at Fairview Hospital for eight years before moving her practice to the Cleveland Clinic main campus in 2010.
Beth built a distinguished career by providing compassionate care and by being a strong advocate for Women's Health. She was beloved by her patients and fellow caregivers alike, earning the Vitals Patients' Choice Award in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018; Top 10 Doctors in the state in 2014; and the Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2018.
Beth worked hard and received many awards, but the greatest rewards were the privilege of being Mom to Bella and Kenzie and wife to Womack. The warmth of Beth's vivacious personality and her uniqueness attracted many people to her. Beth was a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
During Beth's challenging years and illness, she clearly demonstrated FAITH over fear. Beth loved life and lived it to the fullest. Beth was passionate about her faith, family and friends. On Monday, May 28, 2018 surrounded by her family, Beth's soul peacefully returned to the Father on the wings of an angel.
To cherish her memories and legacy are; her loving, devoted and committed husband, Womack Stokes, two wonderful and loving daughters; Isabella Rene Stokes and Mackenzie Dru Stokes, mother, Drucilla Simmons Brooks (Springfield, IL), mother- in- law Vivian Stokes (Los Angeles, CA); sister, Jennifer Brooks (Washington, D.C) brother, Christopher Brooks (Springfield, IL), one niece; Corinne Brooks (Springfield, IL); seven aunts, four uncles and many loving cousins, relatives and lifelong friends.
