Debbie Marks Obituary

Debbie Linda Marks was born April 2nd, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to Callie Mae Williams and James Daniels (both deceased). Debbie was raised in Cleveland, Ohio from infancy by her beloved aunt Annie M. Proctor (deceased) and older brother Alfred Alexander Sr. Debbie attended Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from East Technical High School in 1975. Along the way, Debbie attained an Associate of Arts degree from Cuyahoga Community College in 2008.
Debbie grew up in Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church and accepted Christ in her life at an early age. Debbie led various church committees, created donation drives and served her church home faithfully for many years.
Debbie had a long professional career as a committed public servant. She worked for the United States Postal Service, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Regional Transit Authority, and Cuyahoga County Department of Job and Family Services, from which she retired in 2016.
Debbie was active in the community and held various positions. She worked briefly at the Cleveland Museum of Art as Assistant to the Entertainment department. Debbie also held a volunteer post as Fairfax Renaissance Development Corporation President for one year. Debbie also created the Daughters of the Cross organization to empower women through Christ and altruism.
Debbie was extremely creative and enjoyed crafting, designing church hats "crowns", gardening, and planning events. Over the years, Debbie created and planned various fashion shows, parties and ceremonies. She had a knack for decorating and had a keen design eye.
Debbie was deeply committed to her family. She met the love of her life, Preston, in April of 1986. They were married on July 22nd, 1995. Together, Preston and Debbie raised three wonderful children, Jamison, Jasmine and Jamera. Preston and Debbie enjoyed reminding their children of how the first initial of their names (J) was six letters away from the initials of both of their first names (D & P). Always in their memory is their daughter Caitlin who was born prematurely and passed on at birth.
