Arthur Wheeler Pilkington, also known as Cooter was born on July 12, 1938 to John Wheeler Pilkington and Marcella (Smith) Pilkington in Neenah, Alabama. He was the fourth and last child born out of four children: Annie Pearl, William also known as Brother, and John also known as June, whom are all now deceased. They grew up in the South and while he was still very young, the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio. They moved to an area called Miles Heights where he attended Beehive School and later where he attended John Adams High School. He ended up getting his high school GED later in life, on January 26, 1977.
Cooter joined the military to become part of the United States Air Force from September 7, 1955 to August 24, 1956. After being there for almost a year, he was honorably discharged. He worked at various jobs and one the companies that he worked for was Navistar International Corporation.
Cooter enjoyed watching T.V. news and sports. He would closely follow the Indians, Cavaliers and Browns hoping that they all would win. He liked to wear good clothes and drive nice cars such as a dark blue Lincoln with blue interior, and a black Lincoln with red interior. He enjoyed going out and spending time with friends and cousins. He always read the Plain Dealer faithfully keeping up with the news of the day.
After a long illness he passed away peaceably leaving behind his cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
